In short
- Conversations are one-on-one: text, voice messages, and video messages.
- Reply to someone's Feed status and it opens a conversation with his status quoted — the best opener in the app.
- Private album photos are shared by unlocking your album for that one Dude, from his profile.
- No AI in your DMs — nothing writes messages, suggests replies, or poses as a person. Ever.
Starting a conversation
Three ways in:
- From a profile — the Message button, anywhere you find him: Discover, Search, your DudesList.
- From the Feed — reply to a status, and the conversation opens with his mood and tagline quoted at the top. He sees exactly what you're answering; you skip the awkward cold open. (More in Moods & the Feed.)
- He messages you — new conversations land in your Messages tab with an unread badge.
Inside a conversation
- Text — plain and simple, with room for actual sentences.
- Voice messages — record and send. Up to 30 seconds for members, 5 minutes for Supporters.
- Video messages — a quick clip instead of typing. Same limits: 30 seconds members, 5 minutes Supporters.
- Photos and videos — straight from your camera, never from your library. You see each one before it sends, and he taps to view it. Your albums are shared separately, per person.
Unlocking your private album
When a conversation earns it, share your private album — on his profile, pick the album and tap Share album:
- The share is for him alone, and he's notified. Close it again the same way, any time.
- Unlocks are one-way: you showing yours doesn't oblige him, and vice versa. No tit-for-tat mechanics.
- Everything shared with you is under Albums → Shared with me on your Status screen; everything you've shared is under Menu → Manage my Shares. Manage your album contents any time — see Your profile & content.
Humans only — no AI in your DMs
Automated systems help our moderators flag problems in the background — that's it. No AI writes messages, autocompletes flirting, or poses as a member. Every conversation on DudesChat is between two verified humans, because a chat app where you can't trust that is worthless. It's a promise we build around, not a feature toggle.
Housekeeping
- Unread badges — on the Messages tab and each conversation; conversations sort newest-activity first.
- Leaving a conversation — remove it from your list any time. And if someone should never reach you again, that's blocking — one tap, he's not told, all contact ends.
When something's off
Harassment, spam, someone who isn't who his photos say — Report is right in the conversation and on his profile. Reports go to a human moderator within 24 hours; see Reporting & blocking.
