Your profile is who you are. Your mood is what tonight looks like. The Feed is where the two meet — and where most conversations on DudesChat start.
Most apps make you say everything through your profile — so profiles end up stuffed with "sometimes X, sometimes Y" hedging that's true of nobody on any given night. DudesChat splits it: the profile is the durable you, the mood is the perishable now. When the mood passes, so does the signal — nobody's judging you Tuesday for what you were up for Saturday.
There are eight moods: Chat, Date, Gaming, Clubbing, Travel, Events — and a couple of more direct ones you'll recognise when you see them. Add a tagline (up to 260 characters) to say it in your own words: "anyone at the street festival?", "co-op tonight, mic on".
Open the Status tab, first in the bottom nav: pick a mood, type a tagline if you like, save. It's live immediately: on your profile, and at the top of the Feed for Dudes around you.
The change budget: changing your mood or tagline counts as one change. Members get 1 change per rolling 24 hours, Supporters get 10. When you're at the cap, the app shows exactly when your next change unlocks (24 hours after your oldest recent change, not at midnight). Why a cap at all? Because it keeps moods honest. If everyone could flicker through all eight moods an hour, the Feed would be noise. One deliberate signal a day means every mood you see is something somebody meant.
The Feed tab is the live stream of current moods from Dudes around you, freshest changes first. Each card is a person, their mood, and their tagline. From there:
Your own status shows in the Feed too — without a reply button for you. When someone replies to it, that conversation lands in your Messages like any other.
Your current mood and tagline sit at the top of your profile, and Discover can filter by mood — so when you're set to Clubbing, you show up for exactly the Dudes looking for that tonight. One signal, three surfaces: profile, Feed, Discover.
Almost always the cap: check the countdown on your Status screen; it tells you when your next change frees up. If a mood or tagline won't save even with changes remaining, contact us.
