Profile activation criteria
- A public profile picture is required for membership (visible to other members).
- This means at least one photo of you — face optional, but recognisably a human being, not a logo, meme, or pet.
- It also has to show enough of you to read as a real person: an extreme close‑up or a tight crop of a single body part doesn't work as your activation photo.
- Your profile picture also has to be an actual photograph of you — taken with a camera, looking the way you actually look. Filters, good lighting and normal touch‑ups are fine. AI‑generated or AI‑reworked images are not, even impressive ones of yourself: your profile photo is how other guys know you're real, and an AI version of you isn't that.
- Your public photos need to be safe‑for‑work — and that's less restrictive than it sounds. Shirt off is fine. Underwear, swimwear, gym and beach shots are fine too. This is a gay men's app; that's ordinary self‑presentation, not adult content.
- What makes a public photo not safe‑for‑work is either nudity — exposed genitals, anus or bare buttocks — or framing that's deliberately sexual: crotch or bulge emphasis, hand in the waistband, or fetish gear as the point of the shot. Underwear on its own is never the problem; the framing is.
- More revealing photos aren't banned from DudesChat — they just don't belong on your public profile. See private albums & 1‑on‑1 chat below.
- Public profiles are visible to everyone browsing, so this standard follows the Apple App Store Review Guidelines and Google Play policies — the rules every app in those stores has to meet.
What's allowed & what isn't
- We welcome all content that is legal in the USA and/or Europe and complies with Apple App Store and Google Play guidelines.
- Beyond the specifics below, we may remove content that clearly falls outside what this community is for. We'd rather explain a decision than hide behind a rule, so ask us if one seems wrong.
- All subjects must be — and appear to be — over 18 years of age.
- All subjects must give upload consent. By uploading photos, you affirm that you have their consent to do so.
- Explicit sexual content — pornography — is not permitted anywhere on DudesChat, public or private. Where exactly that line sits is spelled out below.
- Content that could be construed as advertising goods, services, or pay websites is prohibited.
- Content that has been altered, retouched or otherwise changed so as to present a deceptive image is prohibited.
- AI‑generated images of another person — real or imaginary — presented as you are prohibited anywhere. An AI image clearly based on you may live in your other photo slots — expect our moderators to give it a closer look — but never as your profile picture.
- Memes, graphics, drawings, paintings, art, landscapes, pets, or other non‑human photos are prohibited as your primary profile photo (you may share them in chat with consenting recipients).
- Hate speech and content that targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited and will be removed.
Conversations, private albums & 1‑on‑1 chat
Conversations between consenting adults remain private, and different rules apply to what you share directly with someone. In a private album or a 1‑on‑1 chat, nudity is allowed — provided it's legal, consensual, and not on the prohibited list above.
That content is gated, not public: it never appears in Discover or on your public profile, the person receiving it has to be an age‑verified adult who has opted in to see it, and it stays hidden behind a confirmation tap until they do. Nobody gets shown it by surprise.
The one line that holds everywhere, public or private: explicit sexual content stays off DudesChat. Sex acts, aroused genitals, close‑up genital shots — that's pornography, and it has no place here. That isn't us being prudish; it's the line Apple and Google draw for apps in their stores, and it applies to every surface of this app.
DudesChat scans private content only in response to abuse reports or legal requests, never proactively.
Communities & tags
DudesChat uses community tags (Bears, Muscle, Daddies, Otters, etc.) to help members find each other. Tags are self‑selected. Some sensitive tags (health‑related, kink‑leaning) are visible only to members who have also selected them, so they don't surface to people who aren't into them.
