A profile that's actually about you

Most apps boil you down to a photo and a list of measurements. We went the other way. Here's what the new DudesChat profile lets you show — and why almost none of it is about your body.

Pull up almost any dating or hookup app and your profile is the same skeleton: a photo, your height, your weight, a couple of body stats, maybe a one-liner. You become a spec sheet. And spec sheets are interchangeable — which is half the reason those apps all blur into one.

We built the DudesChat profile to do the opposite. We deliberately left the body-stats stuff out. What's in its place is about who you actually are.

Your languages, your picks, your mood — not a body-stat spec sheet.

Say it in your own languages

Pick the languages you speak. It sounds small, but in a city like Zürich, Berlin or Barcelona — or when you're travelling and everyone around you is a stranger — knowing you can actually talk to someone is half the battle. Tap the ones you've got; no guessing, no awkward "do you speak…?" opener.

Your picks — taste beats stats

This is the part we're most excited about.

Choose three of six things to show off: music, books, games, movies, TV, or podcasts. Start typing and you pick the real thing — the actual album, the actual film, cover art and all — not a typed-out list nobody believes. Up to five in each.

Why three, and not everything? Because a focused profile says more than a data dump. Three categories — your call which — is plenty to spark a "wait, you're into that too?". And that's a far better opener than "stats?".

Your taste is a better picture of you than your measurements ever were.

Link the rest of you

Add your other handles — the places where the rest of your life already lives — so people can find more of you, if and when you want them to. You pick the platform and type your handle; we build the link. Tidy, and you stay in control of exactly what's connected.

Moods — what you're up for, right now

Your profile is the durable you. But some things change by the hour, and that's what Moods are for.

Set one — a chat, a date, gaming, a night out, an event, whatever tonight actually looks like — and it shows up live for the guys nearby. When the mood passes, so does the signal. It's the now, kept cleanly separate from the you. No editing your whole profile every time the evening takes a turn.

Free members can set a mood once a day. Go premium and you can switch it as often as the night changes its mind.

Why we built it this way

None of this is an accident.

We think the apps got it backwards. They optimised for the fastest possible judgment — glance at a body, swipe, move on — and then act surprised when everyone feels like a stranger. DudesChat is built for the other kind of guy: the one who wants a bit more to go on before he says hi.

The moment lives in the feed. The person lives in the profile.

Show up as who you actually are. Turns out that's the most attractive thing you can put on a profile anyway.
